DOODLE FOR GOOGLE CONTEST

6th graders!
Remember that your google submission is due to me by Friday March 27th, 2009.

NO LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED, as they are to be mailed out by

March 28th , 2009.

Only 6 can be submitted from the whole school, so make sure your design is very effective at getting the theme of "WHAT I WISH FOR THIS WORLD " across.

Your submission also needs a statement of about 50 words to accompany it, explaining why you chose the design you did.

CITYMEALS ON WHEELS THANKS US ALL!

Just wanted to share the letter of thanks I received from the Citymeals-On-Wheels coordinator today.

All of the children I see for art were a part of and are still a part of creating gorgeous cards for the home bound elderly of NYC. They should be very proud of themselves for their volunteer service!!!

NEW CONTEST!

For ages 6 - 12....

ARTHUR (the cartoon) is holding a contest to develop a new character for its' cartoon show. You are invited to draw a new character in celebration of Disability Awareness Month.

The winner will have a guest appearance on the cartoon show, as well as their character on the cartoon!!

NEW CONTEST!

Students Can Enter Poster Contest from Museum of Natural History:

All students are invited to enter the New York City International Polar Weekend poster contest, run by the American Museum of Natural History.
The theme of the contest is "Climate Change - Why the Poles Matter."
Prizes will be awarded to three winners in these divisions:
K-3rd grade
4th-6th grade
7th-8th grade
and 9th-12th grade.

Winning posters will be displayed at the American Museum of Natural History February 6-7.

Mrs. Lipow's Class

We are celebrating the upcoming Chinese New Year by creating traditional Chinese Landscapes of our own. We looked at many different images of Chinese landscapes and used charcoal and Sharpie's to create our own versions. If you look closely you will notice the tradtional Chinese architecture as well as the Chinese landscape inspired trees and water. Enjoy!
